"Lessons
From NAFTA"
Tri-National Speaking Tour
Eastern Leg (April 12-30)
Western Leg (April 14-May 3)
In Mexico, rural farmers
are blockading borders and shutting down the national congress to
protest the arrival of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and
the end of Mexican agri-culture. Canadas prized
health care system is evaporating. In the US, welfare benefits are
disappearing as fast as the well-paid jobs that could pull people
out of poverty. What do all of these national crises have in common?
The North American
Free Trade Area (NAFTA) and the model of corporate economic globalization.
Understandby hearing
first-hand from affected citizens of Canada, the United States,
and Mexico why social movements across the Americas and around
the world are mobilizing to roll back NAFTA and stop the FTAA
(Free Trade Agreement of the Americas) and the WTO.
