World Social Forum Brazil, Thursday January 27th 2005

The Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign participated in a panel today on with the People's Health Movement called "Building a Global Movement for the Right To Health."

Cheri Honkala, national coordinator of the PPEHRC spoke on the panel along with Chan Chee Khoon, co-coordinator of the Citizens´ Health Initiative in Malaysia, Prem John of the People's Health Movement Secretariat, and Ana Marie Leung of People's Health Movement, Philippines.

Cheri highlighted the healthcare crisis occurring all across our country, and in particular the work being done in California and Ohio for JustHealthCare.

This evening the PPEHRC participated in a panel highlighting the need for international support of resistance happening within the United States. This was an important breakthrough in our experience at the World Social Forum. Following this panel, the PPEHRC was interviewed by the press.
