Observing International Human Rights Day

December 10, 2004:

On this International Human Rights Day, members of the Kensington Welfare Rights Union and the Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign are attending the Southern Human Rights Organizing Conference in Memphis, Tennessee; and the Bring Human Rights Home: A public prayer vigil for housing as a human right, in Chicago, Illinois.

Because of the hard work of members and supporters of the KWRU, Liza and her children, including two-year old Raul, just released from Temple Hospital, are in emergency transitional housing. The KWRU is in current negotiations with the city around the 92 other homeless people involved in the Bushville tent city at Broad and Clearfield in North
Philadelphia.

The struggle continues this holiday season. We appreciate the outpouring of support. Please consider making a contribution this holiday season to help to support a social movement for human rights, toward creating long term change to end poverty and homelessness in this rich country.
