The basic rights of all human beings are being violated with the denial offood, shelter, free education, living wages and health care. Now, more than ever it is important that our voices be heard as we try to bring attention to, and remedy these violations. This is why we will march at the RNC on August 30th, 2004. We recognize that there are many problems we face as a society. But we feel this is an issue that requires the public, and the media's undivided attention. We feel this is the only way to accomplish our goal. We have discovered that other organizations will be marching on the same day, (such as the "Hip-Hop March") and will overlap the "March for Our Lives" at several points. We are a movement to end poverty, led by the poor. We do not have the financial backing or publicity that some of these other organizations do, and it would be a travesty if, due to our poverty and lack of resources (especially financial), that our message will not be heard as loud or as clearly. We all have a message, but if we speak up at the same time, separately, our voices will drown each other out. Hence, we
will be defeating ourselves in a fight that we are in together. We all
want the same thing, we want to make change in society for the better,
for all people. If we could find a way to resolve this, we could strengthen the messages we send, as well as the movement on the whole. Rocco Rosanio
