The
Poor Peoples Economic Human Rights Campaign
To Highlight Poverty in America
August
9, 2004, New Jersey-New York: As the Republican National Convention
approaches, members of The Poor Peoples Economic Human Rights
Campaign (PPEHR), a coalition of organizations across the country,
will march across the George Washington Bridge on Monday as part
of the March for Our Lives campaign to raise visibility of the struggles
faced by poor people in the United States.
The
group of poor people and their advocates, who began marching earlier
this month, will march throughout the state of New Jersey and into
New York City in preparation for the Republican National Convention
in late August.
The
marchers will be traveling to poverty stricken areas across the
two states toting a mobile Bushville tent city that
they use to focus attention on the impact Republican economic policies
have on the poor.
